THE OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSES OF THE SOCIETY
To develop a knowledge of Uisghebeathe, its origins, and history.
To encourage a deeper understanding of Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
To develop an understanding of the many nuances of Single Malt Whisky.
To encourage the distillation, collection, and responsible consumption of uisghe.
To foster camaraderie among the sippers of the true Uisghebeathe.
To glorify the Nectar of the Scots and have a grand time tasting it.
To teach the difference between sipping uisghe and drinking any of
the multitudinous and deplorable drams of the Sassenach.
THE MANY BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
An annual dues payment of $25 permits a member to sponsor a whisky
tasting at a time and place of their choosing.
You supply the location, the people, and the munchies and we
will bring everything else!
When attending a public or private tasting, members are permitted a dram from
the Members Only Collection.
Invitation to Members Only tasting events.
Members receive “Tidewater Scots”, the combined newsletter of the following Hampton Roads Scottish organizations:
An Cuideagh o’ Corn o’ Uisghebeathe, The Saint Andrew’s Society of Tidewater,
The Scottish Society of Tidewater, and The Tidewater Scots Gaelic Study Group.
Members assist the Officers of the Society in presenting the many tasting events
held throughout the year. Involvement has its rewards!
MEMBERSHIP DUES ARE USED FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES
To help advance the objectives and purposes of the Society.
To help defray the costs incurred at Public and Private Whisky
Tastings, Scottish Festivals, Highland Games, and Clan Gatherings.
To help defray the cost of newsletters and other Society mailings.
To assist the leadership of games and gatherings when required or requested.
